Love and ballroom dancing

I’m swirling and twirling, my feet gliding across the floor as if retracing the steps by memory. The dim lights and shadowed shapes melt together, creating a watercolor of fleeting visions. “I think we should try out for So You Think You Can Dance,” I half yell, half spit at my 20-something trust-fund partner.

About

Abigail Gilman

Iowa born-and-raised, I am in the final stretch as a journalism major—there are minors in apparel merchandising and entrepreneurial studies squeezed in, too—at Iowa State University. Cedar Rapids is my hometown, but I grew up attending Iowa State football and basketball games every season (no joke, I’m wearing a Lil’ Clone Club T-shirt I got when I was 9 as I write this—yes, it still fits, kind of).

I’m currently an editorial intern for Divine Caroline, a Meredith Corporation publication, and articles editor for the award-winning Ethos magazine, an ISU student-run publication. I've been so fortunate to learn from the editors of Texas Monthly and Nylon magazines, where I spent my past two summers interning. Check out my résumé, just to the right, for more information on my experiences.

Questions? Comments? Just wanna chat? Tweet, message, email it all my way.
